Auspicious Vastu Shanti Muhurat in 2026

Before entering a new home or beginning construction, observing the correct Vastu Shanti Muhurat is crucial in Indian tradition. This sacred timing ensures that any negative energies or Vastu Doshas associated with the land or structure are pacified, inviting peace, prosperity, and health for the occupants.

Month-Wise Griha Pravesh Muhurat Dates 2026

In 2026, the highest number of auspicious dates fall in February, March, November, and December. Below are the highly recommended dates based on the Hindu Panchang:

  • February 2026: 6th, 11th, 19th, 20th, 21st, 25th, and 26th.
  • March 2026: 4th, 5th, 6th, 9th, 13th, and 14th.
  • April 2026: 20th.

  • December 2026: 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 11th, 12th, 18th, 19th, and 30th.

Note: Timings vary by location. Always consult a local astrologer or priest for the exact Abhijit Muhurtham based on your city's sunrise/sunset.

How is the Muhurat Calculated?

Astrologers calculate the ideal time through Panchang Shuddhi. They evaluate:

  • Best Nakshatras: Uttar Bhadrapad, Uttar Phalguni, Uttarshadha, Rohini, Margashira, Chitra, and Anuradha.
  • Auspicious Tithis: Dwitiya, Tritiya, Panchami, Saptami, Dashami, Ekadashi, and Trayodashi.
  • Best Weekdays: Monday (Moon - Peace), Wednesday (Mercury - Communication), Thursday (Jupiter - Wisdom), and Friday (Venus - Comfort). Avoid Tuesdays and Saturdays for shifting.

Types of Griha Pravesh Puja

According to tradition, there are three types of Griha Pravesh:

  1. Apoorva: Entering a newly constructed home for the first time.
  2. Sapoorva: Re-entering an existing home after a long absence (e.g., returning from working abroad).
  3. Dwandhav: Entering a home after leaving it due to a natural calamity.

Dos and Don’ts for the Ceremony

  • Do complete all construction, doors, and roofing before the puja.
  • Do enter the house with your right foot forward, carrying a Kalash filled with water and mango leaves.
  • Do boil milk on the day of the ceremony to attract prosperity.
  • Don't move heavy furniture into the house before the Vastu Puja. (Only the gas stove is recommended).
  • Don't leave the house completely empty for the first 3-40 days after the ceremony.
  • Don't perform the puja if a female family member is heavily pregnant or if there has been a recent death in the family.
